Test format
IELTS is available in two test formats. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking modules but different Reading and Writing modules. Test validity: 2 years.

- Listening (40 questions) — 30 minutes
- Reading (40 questions) — 60 minutes
- Writing (2 essays) — 60 minutes
- Speaking — 10 to 15 minutes
Scoring
Candidates are graded from 1 to 9 for each part — listening, reading, writing and speaking. The results from the four parts produce an Overall Band Score.
